A very popular film which is at once humorous and meaningful as brother and sister battle to save the life of their mother who has a life-threatening stroke as the pre-Wende protests are happening and comes out of her coma when the wall has fallen.  The only way they can do this is by pretending that East Berlin is still the entity it was and the means they have to adopt to deceive her become every more extreme.

Viewers of the film learn a considerable amount about life behind the former iron curtain although ultimately the message is one of love between members of a family.
